How do you want to set up your server?

Preconfigured plans

Ready-to-launch Valheim servers

Valheim caps every server at 10 players, so RAM decides how much world, building and modding the server can carry. 4 GB runs a full group of ten on vanilla; 8 GB suits a modded server, and 12 GB is for big mod lists and large explored worlds.

Price to performance is really good

You get stable, good server for the price. I will recommend using them if you do not want to spend a lot of money for your server. And also support is really helpful and efficient.

Valheim hosting

Everything you need to run a Valheim dedicated server

A Valheim dedicated server that keeps your world running

A Valheim dedicated server keeps your world online when the host is not playing, so your group can build, sail and fight bosses on their own schedule. The world is saved in one place, and nobody needs a strong PC to host it.

To join from Steam, choose Join game, then Join IP, and enter the address and port shown in your panel. Every server gets a random password, which you can change in the Startup tab of the panel. The game requires at least 5 characters, and the password must not contain the server name.

Start with the plan that fits your group and upgrade later without losing anything. Your world, mods and settings stay on the server.

Vanilla or BepInEx — pick at checkout

Vanilla runs the game exactly as Iron Gate ships it and keeps crossplay with Xbox players open. BepInEx is the mod loader almost every Valheim mod is built on, and it opens the whole Thunderstore catalogue to your server.

Choose one when you order, and switch any time from the Startup tab of your panel: the change applies at the next restart, without a reinstall. Your world stays on the server whichever loader you run, but take a backup first if you are about to add or remove a lot of mods.

How much RAM does a Valheim server need?

Valheim allows at most 10 players on a server, so memory depends on the world and the mods rather than the player count. A fresh vanilla world uses around 1.5–2 GB. As your group explores more of the map, raises big bases and fills portals and chests, memory keeps growing.

4 GB runs a full group of ten on vanilla. 6 GB gives headroom for a long-running world with large bases, and 8 GB suits a modded server. Go for 12 GB or more for big Thunderstore mod lists. A Custom server can be any size from 4 to 16 GB, and upgrades keep your world in place.

Install Thunderstore mods with BepInEx

On the BepInEx loader there are two ways to add mods. List them by their Thunderstore names in the Startup tab and reinstall: the server downloads each mod together with its dependencies. Or upload your own files to BepInEx/plugins through the file manager or sFTP and restart. No mods are preinstalled, so the mod list is entirely yours.

Many mods also have to be installed on every player's PC, in the same version as the server. Others run on the server only. Check each mod's page, and take a backup before a big mod update: after a Valheim patch, some mods need a few days to catch up.

Crossplay with Xbox and PC Game Pass

Crossplay is off by default. With crossplay turned on in the Startup tab, Steam players can join the server together with Xbox and PC Game Pass players. Crossplay players connect with the join code the server prints in the console, not by IP.

Console players cannot load mods, so keep crossplay for vanilla servers. A BepInEx server with mods that players must install is a PC-only server.

World modifiers, admins and automatic backups

Set the difficulty preset and world modifiers from the Startup tab of your panel: combat, death penalty, resources, raids and portals, or keys such as playing without a map. Admins go into adminlist.txt in your server files, one Steam ID (SteamID64) per line, and the same folder holds the ban list and the permitted list.

The game saves the world regularly and keeps its own backup copies. On top of that, the panel gives you one-click backups, and you can make a manual one before changing mods or world settings. Scheduled restarts keep a long-running world responsive without anyone watching the console.

Low ping in Europe, protected against DDoS attacks

The world runs on high-clock Ryzen and Intel CPUs, which matters for Valheim because most of the simulation runs on a single core. European nodes keep latency low across the region, while Voxility filters attacks with over 1 Tbps of mitigation capacity.

Already have a world on your PC or with another host? Upload the world files from your worlds_local folder to the saves/worlds_local folder of the server yourself, or send them to us and we will move them free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about Valheim hosting, players, RAM, Vanilla and BepInEx, mods, crossplay, admins, updates, ports, backups and world migration.

Up to 10 players at the same time on every plan. That is the game's own limit, and the RAM you choose does not change it. More RAM gives room for bigger worlds and more mods.
Yes. Choose BepInEx at checkout, or switch to it later in the Startup tab and restart. Then list your Thunderstore mods in the Startup tab and reinstall, or upload them to BepInEx/plugins and restart. Many mods also have to be installed by every player, in the same version as the server.
Add your Steam ID (the 17-digit SteamID64) on its own line to adminlist.txt in your server files, then restart the server. The ban list and the permitted list are in the same folder.
Valheim uses two UDP ports, the game port and the one right after it, 2456 and 2457 by default. On a shared IP your panel shows the port assigned to you; with the Dedicated IP add-on you get the default ports on an address of your own.
Yes. The game saves the world regularly and keeps its own backup copies, and the panel adds one-click backups that you can restore at any time. An optional off-account Backup Protection add-on is also available.
A fresh vanilla world uses around 1.5–2 GB, and memory grows as the world gets explored and built up. 4 GB runs a full group of ten on vanilla, 6 GB gives headroom for big bases, 8 GB suits a modded server and 12 GB or more is for big mod lists. A Custom server goes from 4 to 16 GB, and upgrades keep your world.
Yes, once you turn crossplay on in the Startup tab (it is off by default). Steam, Xbox and PC Game Pass players can then play together, and crossplay players join with the code the server shows in the console. Console players cannot use mods, so crossplay is for vanilla servers.
Pick a difficulty preset and set modifiers such as combat, death penalty, resources, raids and portals in the Startup tab, then restart. World keys such as playing without a map are set in the same place.
The server installs the new game version when it restarts, so players on the latest version can keep joining. On BepInEx, some mods need a few days to catch up after a patch: take a backup before you restart, and switch to Vanilla in the meantime if a mod stops the server from starting.
Yes. Upload the world files from the worlds_local folder on your PC to the saves/worlds_local folder of the server and set the same world name in the Startup tab, or send them to us and we will move them free of charge.
